Review: W3 New Members Tour, Sunday April 13th, 2025

I joined the new members tour last Sunday, and it was a blast! Technically, I’ve been a member for seven months, but hey, I’m still “new” enough to enjoy cruising through Amsterdam’s canals on a sunny day. 🙂

The route was especially lovely, passing ARTIS Zoo where we slowed down to spot some animals and -surprise- a zebra was on sight! Rowing across the Amstel and through the city’s iconic grachts made me feel like I was seeing Amsterdam with fresh eyes.

What makes this tour extra special is the chance to connect with others over casual chats. If you’re lucky, you even get to be the “princess passenger” sitting next to the stuur in a wherry! 😉 Our crew (Ilse, Cees, me, with our ever-encouraging captain Agnes) was such a fun bunch.

Back at the club, we were welcomed with Arthur’s snacks and drinks on the terrace, where everyone gathered to enjoy the weather and mingle. Everything was, as always, beautifully organized with rowers’ safety and joy in mind.

Big thanks to the tour committee—and especially Els and Maaike—who appeared at every tricky bridge or corner, guiding us through and capturing the fun along the way!
